Renewable Energy for Industrialization and Job Creation Event
The theme of the debate will be “YOUTH EMPOWERMENT: Effective and Long-Lasting Re-penetration.” This forum will involve panelists from the private and public sector, giving you a forum to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the Africa in terms of youth involvement in renewable energy, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
Key topics that have been identified for discussion during the forum are as follows:
- Current impact of Renewable Energy in Africa
- Strategies to drive up interest in Renewable Energy among the youth;
- Opportunities for youth in the Renewable Energy sector;
- The dilemma of employment and entrepreneurship.
Lucia Bakulumpagi-Wamala is the CEO and Founder of Bakulu Power; a renewable energy company based in her native Uganda, Lucia’s goal is to power our tomorrow with projects and initiatives that foster social, environmental and economic development in her native country and throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. In 2017, Forbes Magazine named Lucia one of the 30 most promising young entrepreneurs in Africa. Lucia is currently studying at Harvard Executive Business School.
John Okoro is the Business Development Manager for Vergnet Group (a French Energy Company), directly managing business development projects in Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Tanzania, Liberia, amongst other countries. John also heads the Global Mining and Metals Desk, the unit directly in charge of Project Development for Mining and Metals Clients across the world. He is a member of the Project Management Institute and has been a Project Management Professional (PMP) since 2013. At 21 he became the youngest in the world to attain this qualification at that time.
